He was predeceased by: his parents, Leonard Matthews and Joy Roe Matthews. He is survived by: his wife Vicki Smith Matthews; his children, Cynthia Heard (Ricky) of Sweeny, Nina Darlene Ryan of Freeport, Dennis Matthews and David Matthews (Barbara) of Sweeny; and his sister Gloria Betek (Ray) of Bastrop. He is also survived by 7 grandchildren, 11 great grandchildren and 5 great-great grandchildren.
