It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Wilma Lee Mayes of Bastrop, Texas, who passed away on December 16, 2021, at the age of 91, leaving to mourn family and friends. She was predeceased by: her parents, Perry Taylor Sr. and Teleslie Crockrell Taylor; her husband BJ Mayes; and her siblings, Bryson Taylor, Charlie Woodrow Taylor, Jimmy Lee Taylor, Aaron Taylor, Vera Edna Hyder, Hosie Esther Hickman and Teleslie Taylor Jr. (Toppie).
She is survived by: her former spouse Beverly James Mayes (BJ); her goddaughter Renita; her daughter Beverly Mayes-Anderson; her son-in-law Eric Anderson; her granddaughters, Erica McCarver (Alton) and Raven Anderson; and her sisters, Perrie Lee Hodge, Rosemary Lester and Beverly "Pat" McDonald (Chester). She is also survived by nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends.
