He was predeceased by: his mother Rita "Nell" Waggoner (Kenneth Thames Sr.); his wife Barbara Thames; his father Kenneth Thames Sr.; his sister Janet Boggess; and his brothers-in-law, Randy Boggess and Jeff Gandy.

He is survived by: his son Jesse Thames; and his sister Kathy Gandy.
