He was predeceased by: his parents, John Benjamin Reid (J. B.) and Lou Vellor Sturdivant Reid; his daughter Christa Leanne Reid; and his siblings, Johnny B. Reid, Donald Gene Reid, Bennie Lou Alexander and Essie Ann Richards.

He is survived by: his children, Ryan Thomas Reid (Shannon), Brett Alan Reid and Alysa Reid Johnson (Kyle Johnson); his sisters, Theo B. Gray, Billie Marie Robinson and Mary Lucy Stephens; his brother-in-law Cliff Stephens; his grandchildren, Fallon, Easton, Audrey and Mikah Johnson; and his former wife Kay Thomas Reid. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
