With heavy hearts, we announce the death of Helen Marie Nelson of Bastrop, Texas, who passed away on April 16, 2022 at the age of 87. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.

She was predeceased by: her parents, Lou Anna and Edgar Hebert of Lake Charles, Louisiana.; her significant other Jack M. Nelson of Bastrop, Texas.; her sister Cynthia A. McManus of Lake Charles, Louisiana; and her son Jack R. Nelson (Elizabeth V. Nelson) of Bastrop, Texas..

She is survived by: her daughters, Debra N. Carson of Smithville, Texas, Sharon L. Gassiott (William) of Bastrop, Texas and Melissa N. Young of Austin, Texas.; her grandchildren, Katherine Cook, Lindsey Colon (Alex), Douglas Cook, Sarah Gassiott, Jack A. Nelson (Morgan), Miller Cook, Anna Foster (Stephen), Katharine Carson and William Nelson; and her sister-in-law Billie Jo Nelson of San Antonio. She is also survived by many cousins, nieces, and nephews.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to The Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS) Association.
