She was predeceased by: her parents, James Wallace Simmons and Hattie Lou Eskew Simmons; and her husband Bryan Whitten Sr. of Elgin. She is survived by: her son Bryan Whitten Jr.; her daughter-in-law Janean Whitten; and her grandson Bryan Whitten, III.
Bernice was a staunch supporter of the American Cancer Society.
