She was predeceased by: her parents, Florentino P. Sanchez and Rusilia Sanchez (Sarsosa); and her grandchildren, Samantha Lisette Garcia and Joshua Isaiah Garcia. She is survived by: her husband David Garcia; her children, Benny Vela Jr. (Michelle) of Ballinger, Velma Vela (David Alfaro) of Ballinger, Valerie Vela (Raymond Sanchez) of Ballinger and A. J. Vela (Julie Ann) of Ballinger; and her siblings, Rosie Moreno (Arnulfo) of San Angelo, Maggie Martinez (Oscar) of San Angelo, Oscar Sanchez (Susie) of Ballinger, Eva Mendoza (Fernando) of Ballinger and Florentino Sanchez Jr. (Beatrice) of Ballinger. She is also survived by her 21 grandchildren, 7 great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews and great-nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Cancer Society in Adelita's name.
