He was predeceased by: his parents, Ignacio Chavarria and Guadalupe Chaves Chavarria; and his siblings, Vicenta Herrera, Sabas Chavarria, Esteban Chavarria and Alicia Dominguez.
He is survived by: his son Johnny Chavarria Jr.; his stepson Jesus I. Martinez; his daughters, Rosemary C. Guevara and Teresa Lopez (Jose Lopez); his stepdaughters, Linda Tristan, Victoria Gonzalez (David) and Margie Lopez (Carmelo Lopez); his close friend Hijnia Gambino "Vicky"; and also, Luis Adrian Vasquez, Luis Arturo Vasquez and Jose Guadalupe Vasquez. He is also survived by eleven grandchildren, seventeen great-grandchildren and six great-great-grandchildren.
