Rose Fisher-Brooker Obituary

Rose Fisher-Brooker, born on May 20, 1934, in Briscoe County, Texas, to Alva Henry Davis and Willie Mae Gibson, passed away peacefully on January 2, 2024, in Baird, Texas. Her life, marked by devotion, love, and service, left an indelible impact on her family, friends, and the many church communities she served alongside her husband.

A pillar of strength, Rose's devotion to her brothers and sisters was profound. She shared an unbreakable bond with them, characterized by care, support, and deep affection. Her role as a sister was as vital to her identity as her role as a wife, mother, and community leader.

Rose was preceded in death by her first husband, Delton E. Fisher, and her daughter, Janice Rose Fannin. She is survived by her loving husband, Lee Roy Brooker, with whom she shared a bond of friendship and later, marriage, after the passing of their respective spouses. Her legacy continues through her daughter, Jeanie Gilley; grandchildren Jon Gilley, Carl VanHoose (Kenneth Alexander), Kris Brenner (Nathan), and Cari Waller (Jason); great-grandchildren Candice Gilley (Fiance- Gunner Johnston), Kodi Bixler (David), Zachary Gilley (Linda), Emily Waller, and Lauren Waller; and her great-grandchild, Isabelle, Jayton, Weston, Hazel, and Oliver. Step-Daughter Brenda Lewis (Danny) and children Daniel, Mitchell and Summer. Rose's sister, Maebelle Francis, along with many other family members and friends who cherish her memory.

Rose's life was characterized by her unwavering support and leadership in ministry alongside her husband, Delton. Together, they pastored churches in various Texas towns, including Clarendon, Sylvester, Hawley, Leuders, Halfway, Meadow, Anton, Baird, Amarillo, and Abilene. Her role as a minister's wife was pivotal, often being the driving force behind their successful ministry. She gracefully balanced the expectations of her role, supporting her husband, nurturing her family, and serving the church community with fierce dedication.

Rose exemplified the ideals of Christian service, family, and community, becoming a role model for many in the congregations she served. Her life demonstrated the importance of loving and supporting one's spouse and family on their spiritual journey, while also managing the unique challenges that come with being a minister's wife.

Rose's life was a testament to faith, love, and service. Her memory will be treasured, and her legacy will continue to inspire those who knew her. Her contribution to her family, her church, and her community will always be remembered and cherished.

A memorial service will be held at 1:30 PM Saturday, January 6, 2024, at Baird Methodist Church.

If desired, in lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Baird Methodist Church "Kids Club" Program, honoring Rose's lifelong commitment to faith and community.
