He was predeceased by: his wife Helen Swafford; his daughter Tracey Harris; his parents, Lillien Swafford and John Swafford; his siblings, Alvin "Pete", Leon "Hoot", Carlos Swafford and Flora Gibbs; and his stepsons, Billy Skogland and Stephen Parker.

He is survived by: his wife Maggie Swafford; his son Stacy Swafford; his stepchildren, William Parker and Melissa Bakic; his sisters, Juanita Rawson and Katie Dunn; and his nephew Jeff Burleson. He is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.
