He was predeceased by: his wife Patsy. He is survived by: his children, Michael Sowder (Elizabeth) of Conway and Kandy McCarty (Jack) of Pampa; his sister Janice Farris (Dub) of San Antonio; his grandchildren, Josh McCarty (Haley), Jeremy McCarty (Jaci), Jennifer Collins (Greg), Timothy Sowder and Tiffany Rotton (Justin); his great grandchildren, Hunter, Alexa, Lucas, Archie Joe McCarty, Fisher, Kadyn, Danika McCarty, Tristan Black, Asher Rotton and Graham Rotton; and also Laverne Winn. He is also survived by numerous other in-laws, nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.
