He was predeceased by: his parents, Doris Virginia Shirey and Robert Aubrey Shirey; and his brother Raymond. He is survived by: his wife Cheryl; his children, Pam, Pat, Sonia, Susanna, Bobby and Sonny; his grandchildren, Jimmy, Ben, Megan of Jessica, RJ, Will, Alex, Olivia, Amanda, Lisa, Kayla, Sean, Seth and Sage; and his nephews, Tim and Chris.

In lieu of flowers, honor Steve by donating to the VA.
