He was predeceased by: his parents, Asa Shanks and Bernice Shanks; his wife Carrol; his daughters, Wendee Phillips and Stormie Zanfino; and his sister Muriel Cordes.
He is survived by: his daughter Dr. Angelia Williams; his sons-in-law, Thomas Williams, Roger Phillips, Jr. and Karl Felder; and his grandchildren, Robert Gottlich of Roger Phillips, III, Joshewa Phillips, Brittany Van Slyke, Hannah Littlejohn, Olivia Williams and Jonathan Williams. He is also survived by 13 great-grandchildren; niece.
