He is survived by: his wife Martha Carey Lugar; his daughter Lori Vining (Robert); his grandchildren, Sarah Vining and John Vining (Hadassah); his brother Billy Lugar (Velma); and his siblings-in-law, Marilyn Hopkins (Phil) and James Carey (Jan). He is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.
