She was predeceased by: her parents, Alva William Gilkerson and Hazel Ruth Ferguson Gilkerson; her brothers, Harvey Lynn Gilkerson and Leslie Otis William "Pete" Gilkerson; and her husband Uba Courtney.
She is survived by: her children, Alva Patrick Bey Mitchell, Phillip Craig Courtney and Ginger Ann Fry; and her grandchildren, Ashlie Mitchell, Andrea Mitchell, Courtney Fry and Jeremy "Jef" Fry.
