Rice-Gardner (Austin, Texas), born in Chicago, Illinois, whose presence will be deeply missed, having departed on August 26, 2024 at the age of 77. She was predeceased by: her parents, Johnnie Yates Rice and Blackshear. She is survived by: her husband Larry; and her cousins, Jacqueline Whiting Bostic, Sammie Whiting-Ellis, Nan Broussard Garza, Tommye Whiting Casey, Martha Whiting Goddard, Charles Earl (Betty), Brenda Countee McKerrson, Rutherford A. Countee Jr. of Rutherford, B. H, Yates III, Linnie Marie Davis and Debra White.
Gifts in her memory may be given to the Blackshear Fine Arts Academy, Holy Cross Catholic Church Scholarship Fund, Ebenezer Child Development Center, and the American Cancer Society.
