It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Santiago Herrera of Austin, Texas, who passed away on October 19, 2024, at the age of 89, leaving to mourn family and friends. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
He was predeceased by: his parents, Audencio Herrera and Facunda Herrera; his siblings, Fidencio Herrera, Elpidia Lemon, Maria Lopez, Sandy Cortez, Isabel Giatan, Susie Gallardo and Flora Gonzales; and his sons, Jimmy Rene Herrera and Santiago Herrera Jr..
He is survived by: his wife Mary Louise Herrera; his children, David Herrera, Diana Marie Herrera (Jeremy Salazar), Gloria Perez (Fidencio Perez), Rosa Nino (Victorino Nino), Maggie Lugo (Jorge Lugo) and Mary Luna; his grandchildren, Christian M. Herrera-Morales, Gabriel Rene Herrera, Cira N. Herrera-Rocha, Adam Diego Perez and Ilyana Rayne Arevalo; and his daughter-in-law Dolores Hernandez. He is also survived by loving grandchildren and great grandchildren from his first marriage.
Visitation was held on Tuesday, October 29th 2024 from 5:00 PM to 9:00 PM at the Mission Funeral Home Heritage Chapel (1615 E Cesar Chavez St, Austin, TX 78702). A rosary was held on Tuesday, October 29th 2024 from 7:00 PM to 7:45 PM at the same location. A Mass of Christian burial was held on Wednesday, October 30th 2024 at 10:00 AM at the Cristo Rey Catholic Church (2208 E 2nd St, Austin, TX 78702).
