William Riley Ormston Obituary
William Riley Ormston, Riley to those that knew him, passed away Thursday, November 3, 2022 at the age of 37. Riley was born September 4, 1985 in Ames, IA to William Lyle Ormston and Julie Patrice Lanier.
Riley graduated from Celina High School in Celina, TX with the class of 2005. After graduation, he spent a few years traveling with his dad, Dr. Bill Ormston, and step-mom, Dr. Amy Hayek. He helped them in their business of Animal Chiropractic. He later joined his mom, Julie Lanier Torbert and bonus-dad Todd Torbert and enjoyed becoming a part of the North Texas community. He loved trying new restaurants, going to car shows, visiting his siblings, and anything involving the University of Texas. Hook 'Em Horns!
Since high school, Riley was honored to be a part of the Special Olympics where he was able to participate in many different sports, including track, baseball, cycling, bowling, tennis, and his favorite: golf. Special Olympics golf allowed Riley to play on a team with his brothers, and family meant everything to Riley.
Riley loved reaching out to and hearing from all of his extended family - many cousins on all levels of the family tree and so many wonderful friends, including his classmates at Caring Hands Adult Dayhab.
Riley is survived by his mother, Julie Lanier Torbert and husband Todd of Pilot Point, TX; father, Dr. Bill Ormston and wife Dr. Amy Hayek of Meridian, TX; siblings, Jessica Ormston of Lewisville, TX, Philip Ormston of Denton, TX, Calvin and Alexis Torbert of El Paso, TX, Christopher and Beth Torbert of Celina, TX, and Robert Dale of Meridian, TX; aunts and uncles, Jackie Chapman and Whalen Ray of Mineola, TX, Judy and Gary Purdy of Bonham, TX, Janet Lanier of Melissa, TX, Angi and Garrett Spooner of Midland, TX, Becky and Chris Paredez of Grand Prairie, TX, and Tobey Torbert of Tyler, TX; and bonus grandparents, Larry Oxford of Garland, TX, Linda and Glen Hall of Shreveport, LA, and Lonnie Torbert of Tyler, TX.
Riley was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Helen Oxford and Jack Lanier; paternal grandparents, Bill and Cindy Ormston; uncle, Rodney Ormston; aunt, Jennifer Balman; and cousin, Johnny Purdy.
Visitation will be held 4:00PM-5:00PM, Thursday, November 10, 2022 at Slay Memorial Chapel in Aubrey, TX and the funeral service will begin at 5:00PM in Aubrey, TX with Sid Flaco officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of Terri Slay and Slay Memorial Funeral Center.
