He was predeceased by: his parents, Clyde Nichols and Betty Nichols; his wife Hellen M. Benefield Nichols; his children, Kelvin Nichols and Linda Messer; and his siblings, Weldon Nichols, Jimmy Nichols, Kathryn Lynn, Christine Winn, Bonita Surorak and Ineva Lummus.
He is survived by: his daughter Brenda Richards of Queen City, Texas; his grandchildren, Kaci Johnson (Matt), Laci Page (Jimmie), Jonathan Richards, Lindsey Underwood (Trent), Jessica Barnett and Emily Simmons (Landon); and his great grandchildren, Brantley Jones and Ellie Johnson.
