He was predeceased by: his parents, Hoyet Paynter and Mildred Lowe Paynter; his wife Sarah Paynter; his daughter Melinda Franklin; his granddaughter Makayla Paige Paynter; and his siblings, Reggie Calcanio, Lawrence Harris and Carol Bennett.
He is survived by: his son Kevin Dale Paynter of Atlanta, Texas; his son-in-law Jeff Franklin of Atlanta, Texas; his grandchildren, Bobby Hurley, Lady Vanisa Franklin, Jeffery Scott Franklin, Jr. and Sasha Marie Terry; his great grandchildren, Antione Rodriguez, Jr., Elisha Rodriguez, DeAreon Hunt, Desi Terry, Sir Hunt and Ayden Franklin; and his brother Darris Harris.
