He was predeceased by: his parents, J. Carmen Salazar Serna and Micaela (Hernandez); and his brother Eloi Salazar. He is survived by: his wife Maria Reyes Cabrera of Athens; his children, Gerardo Salazar Sr. (Sara Rincon Salazar) of Athens, Ismael Salazar (Teresa Hernandez) of Guanajuato, Jesus Salazar (Fabiola Oliveros) of Athens, Maria Irma Salazar (Vicente Rodrigues) of Belton, Margarita Salazar Cabrera (Juan Carlos Montezuma) of Nuevo Laredo, Tamaulipas, Marco Antonio Salazar (Stephanie) of Athens and Mayra Salazar Cabrera (Francisco Garcia) of Athens; his grandchildren, Gerardo Salazar Jr. (Mara), Samantha Salazar, Jana Salazar, Mariana Salazar, Jessica Salazar, Vanessa Salazar, Daniel Salazar, Jesus Salazar, Erick Salazar, Fatima Salazar, Marlin Salazar, Alexander Salazar, Melanie Salazar, Giovani Salazar, Darwin Salazar, Abelardo Salazar, Jolette Salazar and Ketelyn Salazar; and his great grandchildren, Daleyza Julieta Navarro and Jesse Emiliano Salazar.
