He was predeceased by: his parents, Samuel Waymon Houston and Rose Marie Houston (Phillips); and his brother Karl Houston. He is survived by: his wife Brenda Houston of Athens; his daughter Whitney Speck (Josh) of Flint; his siblings, Debbie Jumper (Tony) of Kerens and La Dale Houston (Jennifer) of Bryant, Arkansas; and his grandsons, Houston Lemire and William Speck.

Visitation was held on Sunday, November 10th 2024 from 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM at the Hannigan Smith Funeral Home (842 NE Loop 7, Athens, TX 75752). A funeral service was held on Monday, November 11th 2024 at 1:00 PM at the Rock Hill Baptist Church (20022 TX-31, Brownsboro, TX 75756). A burial was held on Monday, November 11th 2024 at the Oaklawn Memorial Park (3100 FM317, Athens, TX 75752).
