He is survived by: his wife Barbara Smith of Athens; his children, Wanda Lee Shelton of Gatesville, Garrett Smith Jr (Suellen Syler) of Athens and John Barret Smith of Athens; his grandchildren, Aubrey Leann Hasse, Alexanda Arico and Benjamin Garrett Smith; and his great grandchildren, Cross Hasse, Caleb Hasse, Cobey Hasse and Anastasia Hasse.
