She was predeceased by: her parents, Hollis Birdwell and Marguerite Johnson; her husband Billy E. Smelley; and her siblings, Ruby Mullican, Freddy Gene Birdwell and Jerry Glen Birdwell.
She is survived by: her children, Bubba Smelley (Marteal Kitchings) of Overton, Shelia Whitaker of Troup and Debbie Richardson (Rory) of Carthage; and her sister Kay Sampson. She is also survived by eight grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
