He is survived by: his wife Margaret Ann Simmons-Mitchell; his children, Ricky Mitchell (Denise), Jackie Mitchell (Yvonne), Thomas Perry Mitchell IV (Sheila), Velesa Denmon, Sharon Simmons (Charles), Nina Pope (James, Jr.) and Ashley Simmons; and his brother Herbert T. Jarmin. He is also survived by 20 grandchildren; several great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and extended family.
