He was predeceased by: his parents, Delbert Smithey and Betty Smithey Shipman; and his sister Susie Padilla. He is survived by: his son Chad Smithey (Jenn); his grandson Haden Smithey; his son Gonzalo Martinez (Traci); his siblings, Jackie Smithey (Mary Ellen) and Janice Bell (James); his brother-in-law Joe Padilla; and his uncle Darrell. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
