He was predeceased by: his parents, Layton Walton Nix and Ruby Sellers Nix; his wife Thelma; his siblings, Rayford Lee "Bobby" Nix and Shirley Mathis; and his grandson Benjamin Gulley.
He is survived by: his children, David Nix (Christi) of Odessa and Carol Gulley (Bill) of Andrews; his stepdaughters, Linda Hayes of Houston and Hilary Haygood (Danny) of Andrews; his grandchildren, Kyle Nix, Katie Sims, Jason Gulley, Heather Richardson, Lane Haygood, Patrick Haygood and Joe Haygood; and his nieces, Nicky Jackson and Leslie Elian. He is also survived by 15 great grandchildren, 2 great great grandchildren.
