He was predeceased by: his parents, Wilma Baker Benton and Woodrow Wilson Benton; and his son David Collazo. He is survived by: his wife Jan Benton; his children, Ealon McCartney (Kirby) of Gunter, Kim Brown (Kevin) of Amarillo and Kyle Collazo (Bonnie) of Bushland; and his siblings, Roger Benton of Amarillo, Shirley Hunt (Calvin) of Amarillo, Carolyn Kirkpatrick of Slaton, Lanita Goodrum (Brad) of Lone Star, Lisa Odgers (Bug Anthony) of Ft. Worth and Linda Coffman of Lubbock. He is also survived by 10 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren.
Visitation was held on Sunday, December 15th 2024 from 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM at the LaGrone Blackburn Shaw Funeral Directors (8310 Coulter St S, Amarillo, TX 79119). A memorial service was held on Monday, December 16th 2024 at 10:00 AM at the Crossroads Country Church (14425 Farm to Market Rd 1541, Amarillo, TX 79118).
