He was predeceased by: his parents, Katherine Euginia Walters (Givens) and James Eugene Walters. He is survived by: his wife Betty Walters; his sons, Michael Walters and Patrick Rutherford; and his sister Rocelia Garlick.

A memorial service will be held on Thursday, November 21st 2024 from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM at the Westview Christian Church (6810 Hillside Rd, Amarillo, TX 79109).
