With heavy hearts, we announce the death of Ernest George Whalen Jr. of Amarillo, Texas, who passed away on January 28, 2025 at the age of 75. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
He was predeceased by: his parents, Ernest George Whalen and Evelyn Louise Whalen (Tucker); and his brother Johnny Ellis (Sharon). He is survived by: his daughter Brandi Michelle (Bryan) of Chico; his wife Diana Lynn Whalen (Carver) of Amarillo; his daughter Jodie Houck (Chad) of Granbury; his sisters, Sally Eileen Bell of Amarillo, Kathleen Kelly Whalen of Amarillo and Lila Lou Hamby (Buddy) of Amarillo; his nieces and nephews, Karon Hamby, Sherry Bowers (Darryl), Jason Bell (Nicole) of Amarillo and Beau Bell of Amarillo; his great grandchildren, Kody Patterson of Amarillo, Mariah Stahla (Ben) of Forney, Eli Patterson and Benjamin Stahla; and his great-nieces and great-nephews, MiKayla, Mikenna, Shavaneaux, Kaylee, Kriston, Beaux, Bryan and Jonathan.
Visitation was held on Friday, February 7th 2025 from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at the Cox-Rowley Funeral Home Chapel (4180 Canyon Dr, Amarillo, TX 79109). A funeral service was held on Saturday, February 8th 2025 at 10:00 AM at the Washington Ave. Christian Church (3800 S Washington St, Amarillo, TX 79109).
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be sent to High Plains Children's Home at PO Box 7848, Amarillo, TX 79114.
