He was predeceased by: his parents, Cecil Elwin Hopkins and Mary Elizabeth Hopkins; his stepmother Alberta Hopkins; and his siblings, C. A. Hopkins, Mike Hopkins, Gaylene Harper and Carlene Pederson.
He is survived by: his wife Lucille Pierce Wade Hopkins of Amarillo, TX; his children, Doctor Ron Hopkins (Pixie) of Lovington, NM., Lynn Moreland (Dale) of Amarillo, TX and Jan Osborne of Amarillo, TX; his siblings, Tammy Altman of Joplin, MO and Cecil Elwin Hopkins; and his grandchildren, Misty Caldwell, Marty Hopkins, Jeremy Hopkins, Courtney Godwin, Stephanie Kavanaugh, Chelsey Kinney, Landon Moreland, Kolby Osborne, Haven Robinson, Keeley Garcia, Jaylon Clayton, Tiffany Wampler and Amber Rodie. He is also survived by fourteen great-grandchildren; and several nieces, nephews, and many close friends.
