He was predeceased by: his parents, Ray Rufenacht and Audrey Rufenacht; his stepmother Minnie Rufenacht; his brother Gary Rufenacht; his brother-in-law Jerome Steffan; his stepsiblings, Jerry Michaelis and Shirley Schweitzer; and his sister-in-law Sandra Michaelis.
He is survived by: his friend Mel Stapleton; his wife Cindy Rufenacht of Childress; his sons, Tyler Rufenacht (Jordan) of Amarillo, TX and Nick Compton (Danielle) of Amarillo, TX; his grandchildren, Toryn Allen of Lubbock, TX, Landon Holbrook of Amarillo, TX and Parker Grace Rufenacht of Amarillo; his siblings, Howard Rufenacht of Wichita, KS and Della Steffan of Lyons, KS; and his stepbrothers, DeWayne Michaelis, Wade Michaelis (Gayla) of Ness City and James Michaelis (Deanna) of Bazine, KS. He is also survived by cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends.
