It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Barbara Jane Estes Smith Darnell of Amarillo, Texas, born in Pasadena, Texas, who passed away on August 3, 2024, at the age of 78, leaving to mourn family and friends. She was predeceased by: her parents, James Loren Estes, Jr. of Quanah, Texas. and Virginia Mae Estes (Kelley) of Quanah, Texas.; and her former spouses, Hill Alexander Smith, Jr. and Eddie Messer. She is survived by: her husband Brannon Darnell; her children, Craig Smith (Maria) of Nowata, Brian Smith (Krista) of Slocomb, Alabama and Ginger Breeding (John) of Houston, Texas; her stepdaughters, Karen Haggard (Derick) of Lubbock and Debbie Darnell of Lubbock, Texas; her sister Donna Schmidt (John) of Morton, Texas; her grandchildren, Ashley Smith, Kirstie Hanna (Chris) of Canyon, Landon Smith, Karlee Smith of Slocomb and James Breeding of Houston, Texas; and her stepgrandchildren, Dax Haggard, Ryne Haggard and Cody Fabela (Carley) of Canyon, Texas. She is also survived by five great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews; and many friends.
