He was predeceased by: his parents, Lester B. McCarley and Wilma Elizabeth McCarley (Mabry); and his sister Shirley Lee McCarley. He is survived by: his wife Carol McCarley (Smart); his nephew David (Delaney Chastain); his stepchildren, Deanna Dougan (Harold), William Conner Jr. (Sandra Kay) and Robert Charles Conner (Kim); and his grandchildren, Nevaeh Phillips, Daniel, Lacey Lowell and Tony Lowell.

Visitation was held on Wednesday, January 29th 2025 from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at the Clayton Kay Vaughan Funeral Home (200 E Patton Ave, Alvarado, TX 76009). A celebration of life was held on Thursday, January 30th 2025 at 11:00 AM at the Shepherd's Valley Cowboy Church (8901 US-67, Alvarado, TX 76009). A burial was held on Thursday, January 30th 2025 at the Glenwood Cemetery (415 N Pkwy Dr, Alvarado, TX 76009).
