He was predeceased by: his parents, Jesse Lawson and Lula Thompson Mears; his wife Hazel Janice Jordan; his daughter Peggy Kitchens; his granddaughter Jessica Kitchens; and his grandchildren-in-law, Katherine Roberts, Visie Scarberry, Delta, Bill Shad, Arthur and Norma Mears.
He is survived by: his son Walter Ray Mears, Jr.; his children-in-law, Kevin Kitchens, Erika Mears, Courtney, Dillon Goodson, Joel, Samantha Kitchens, Jeremy and Brandi Kitchens; his great grandchildren, Carson Goodson, Payton Goodson and Parker Lamm; his siblings, Jesse Mears and Laveda Moore; and his brothers-in-law, Wondo Scarberry and Jerry Roberts. He is also survived by other relatives and friends.
