He was predeceased by: his parents, Jessie L. Mears and Lula Mears (Thompson); and his siblings, Arthur Mears, Delta Schad, Levada Moore, Walter Mears, Visie Scarberry and Kathryn Roberts.
He is survived by: his children, Jesse Mears Jr., Tony Mears (Amy) and Mark Mears; his grandchildren, Austin Mears (Tayler), Brittany Mears and Ty Mears; and his great grandchildren, Gregory Mears and Eleanor Biederstedt. He is also survived by nieces, nephews.
Visitation was held on Friday, September 20th 2024 from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at the Crosier-Pearson Cleburne Funeral Home (512 N Ridgeway Dr, Cleburne, TX 76033). A graveside service will be held on Saturday, September 21st 2024 at 12:00 PM at the Squaw Creek Cemetery.
His love for music was well-known; he was honored as a 2004 inductee into the Country Music Association of Texas Hall of Fame and received the 2018 Master of Texas Fiddling award, highlighting his significant contributions to the music community.
