He was predeceased by: his father Isidro Cantu; and his brother Juan Cantu Garcia. He is survived by: his mother Ramona Garcia; his wife Stella Cantu; his children, Juan I. Cantu (Angela M. Cantu), Elizabeth Rubio (Antonio Rubio) and Jesus Cantu; his grandchildren, Marcus Silva, Rosealia Marie Cantu and Juan I. Cantu Jr.; his stepchildren, Cristina Naputi (Vince Naputi), Sandra Orozco (Perry Orozco) and Efren Flores; his siblings, Veronica Salazar Garcia (Ricardo Gonzalez Guerrero), Tomas Cantu Garcia (Mely Olivares) and Alejandro Salazar Garcia (Vilma Montes); his stepgrandchildren, Alisa Barboza, Lauren Barboza, Vincent Barboza, Victoria Limburg-Gonzalez, Jacob Orozco, Honesty Orozco and Joseph Orozco; his stepgreat-granddaughter Elena Grace Noelle Orozco; and his nieces and nephews, Karen Alejandro Salazar, Karla Anahi Salazar, Gabriela Guadalupe Salazar, Ingrid Monsterrat Salazar, Ricardo Gonzalez Salazar, Placido, Axel Patricio Salazar and Cristian Alejandro Salazar.
