He was predeceased by: his parents, Floyd Skinner and Rosie Hodges; his wife Claudine Skinner; his son Claude Cannon; his son-in-law Samuel Johnson; and his sisters, Viola Jenkins and Icy Bell Skinner.
He is survived by: his children, Marga Skinner-Johnson and J. L. Skinner (Velma); his daughter-in-law Evelyn Cannon; his granddaughters, Gia Shepard (Derrick), Eroctonya Skinner, Shamonica Johnson and Shemeka Lamb (Gavin); and his niece Jalane Green. He is also survived by 12 grandchildren, 21 great-grandchildren, 7 great-great-grandchildren.
