It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Rebecca Portillo (Alpine, Texas), who passed away on January 2, 2025, at the age of 84, leaving to mourn family and friends. She was predeceased by: her significant other Leocadio "Lucky" S. Portillo; her parents, Jose Chavez and Juliana Bermudez Chavez; and her godson David Lopez. She is survived by: her children, Florinda Sullivan (Dennis), Joe Portillo (Laura Lea), Lisa Villanueva (Frank), Leo Portillo, Ray Portillo and Christy Portillo; her grandchildren, Lori Iverson, Monica, Anna Fierro, DJ Villanueva, Julie Rivera, Preston Villanueva, Michael Joe, Dominique Portillo, Brandon, Jereomy Portillo, Jai Portillo, Lexi Cotie, Joseph, Anthony, Abby Portillo, Ashley Mayo and Kimberly Muniz; her brothers, Enrique, Merced, Arturo and Gilbert Chavez; and her close friend Mere Hernandez Methola. She is also survived by 21 great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
Visitation was held on Tuesday, January 7th 2025 from 9:00 AM to 9:30 AM at the Our Lady of Peace Catholic Church (406 S 6th St, Alpine, TX 79830). A rosary was held on Tuesday, January 7th 2025 from 9:30 AM to 10:00 AM at the same location. A Mass was held on Tuesday, January 7th 2025 at 10:00 AM at the same location. A burial was held on Tuesday, January 7th 2025 at 11:15 AM at the Holy Angels Cemetery (114 N 5th St, Alpine, TX 79830).
