He was predeceased by: his parents, Lucia Anaya and Juan Gomez Chavez; his former wife Leonor Chavez; and his daughter Evangelina. He is survived by: his siblings, Manuel, Alfonso, Manuela Vega and Josephina Iniguez; his spouse San Carlos; his children, Manuela "Nel" Chavez, Rosa Maria Ramirez, Patricia Hambach, Carmen Chavez, Daniel and Juan "Chacho" Chavez, III; his grandson Andrew Chavez; and his son-in-law Wes Hambach. He is also survived by fourteen grandchildren; thirteen great-grandchildren; and ten great-great-grandchildren.
