He was predeceased by: his wife Alberta Marie Abbott (Davis); and his son Gary Mark Abbott. He is survived by: his children, Tony Abbott of Bagwell, Steven Dwayne Abbott (Lynn) of Garland and Melanie Thompson of Allen; and his siblings, Eva Jeffers of Bagwell, Burt Abbott of Kermit and Danny Abbott of Kermit. He is also survived by 5 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren.
