He was predeceased by: his parents, Jose Cortez and Virginia Cortez; his brothers, Lionel Cortez (Marta), Jose Cortez (Diana), Arturo Cortez (Sylvia) and Angel "Kelly" Cortez (Gloria); his son Jesus Enrique Cortez of Corpus Christi; his niece Melinda Trejo; and also Felicita Cortez.
He is survived by: his children, Maria Irma Cortez (Alejandro) of Alice, Linda Ann Alvarez (Juan) of Sandia, Felix Daniel Cortez of Dallas and Gregorio "Goyo" Cortez (Rosie) of Garland; his siblings, Virginia "Ginny" Zepeda (Ralph) of Alice and George Cortez (Alicia) of Alice; his pet Tito The; and his caregivers, Angie, Belinda, Charlotte, Linda Jo, Norma and Melissa. He is also survived by 21 Grandchildren and 13 Great-Grandchildren.
