He was predeceased by: his parents, Bill Adams and Daisy Gibbs; and his siblings, Weldon and Jessie Mae. He is survived by: his wife Shirley A. Adams; his daughters, Norvilla Aileen Kesler (Kenneth) and Jessie L. Sweeney (Edward); his siblings, Lyndol Adams (Kathy) and Ruby Drye; and his nephew Terry Adams (Agnes). He is also survived by numerous other nieces, nephews, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.
