He was loved and cherished by many people including: his parents, Mariano Fernandez and Santos Fernandez (Mancillas); his wife Joaquina Reyes; and his children, Joe Fernandez, Jr., Gus, Jesus, Tony "Moose" Fernandez, Mary Escobedo, Maya Phipps, Connie Fernandez and Concha Fernandez. He was also cherished by fifteen grandchildren and many great grandchildren; and many extended family.
