He was predeceased by: his parents, Russell James and Hilma Louise Thomas (Wann); and his sisters, Dorothy Hafner, Grace Reiff, Etta Mann, Marilyn Thomas and Jean Catt.

He is survived by: his wife Della Sewell-Thomas; his sons, Jeff (Stacia) of Kenesaw, NE and Brett (Brenda); his stepchildren, Paul Wasinger of Hays, KS and Michelle Schwenk (Ben); his siblings, Donnie Thomas of Lindsborg, KS and Lila Spout (Melvin); his grandchildren, Zach (Julie Thomas), Haley Thomas, McKenzie Thomas, Adam Thomas, Ryan Thomas, Anna Thomas and Daniel Schwenk; and his great grandchildren, Isabella Hansford and Tatum Thomas.
