We are sad to announce that on August 11, 2023, at the age of 89, Taylor Rankin in Abilene, Texas passed away. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.

He was predeceased by: his father Sam Hull; and his siblings, Phyllis, Ruth, Frances and Lyle.

He is survived by: his brother Richard Rankin (Sue); his wife Elizabeth Jaynes Rankin; his daughter Rachael Rankin Bein (Bob) of Abilene; his stepsons, Rob Rankin (Julie) of Midland and Andrew Rankin (Laurie) of Owasso, Oklahoma.; his grandchildren, Taylor, Chase, Karl, Callie, Jonathan, Justin, Erich and Jacob; and his great grandchildren, Greyson, Stellan Revell and Ida Rankin.

Memorial gifts may be made to The Rankin Family Scholarship fund at Hardin-Simmons University or to the charity of your choice.

“Dear Mrs. Rankin and Rachael, I was so saddened to see the email from HSU regarding Dr. Rankin’s passing. I always had such regard for him as an professor, and as a great dad to my friend, and roommate, Rachael. My sweet mother passed away in April, so I truly do grieve with you as to how you will miss him. I am thankful with you that it is only for a time, and that we will be reunited with them when we see our Lord face to face. May you be comforted in these difficult days. Janet Spurlock”
