He was predeceased by: his former wife Margot Helena Helgert; his son Rolf Danny Murray; his wife Phyllis Colleen Murray; his siblings, Vera Lucille Murray, Ona Faye Murray, Verl Orvis Murray and Lola Irene Murray; his stepfather John Spiegel; and his half-siblings, John Edward Spiegel, Shirley Ann Spiegel and Joyce Ella Spiegel.
He is survived by: his daughter Monika Faye Smith (Steve); his grandsons, Jeremy Chad Smith (Kristi) and Shawn Michael Smith; his great grandchild Mason Jeremiah Smith Phyllis; and his stepchildren, Beth White, Peggy Stempel, Nancy Robinson (Bruce), Laura Graves (Bill), Fred Cooper (Teri) and Susan Schwartz (David). He is also survived by fifteen grandchildren and sixteen great-grandchildren.
Visitation was held on Thursday, February 13th 2025 from 6:00 PM to 7:00 PM at the Elmwood Funeral Home (5750 US-277, Abilene, TX 79606). A funeral service was held on Friday, February 14th 2025 at 12:00 PM at the Southside Baptist Church (1425 S 7th St, Abilene, TX 79602).
