He is survived by : his wife Bonnie Cortez; his children, Joe Cortez of Abilene, John Cortez (Rita) of Yukon, David Cortez (Melissa) of Rio Rancho, NM, Ana Watson (Christopher) of Grand Prairie, TX and Mark Cortez (Sandra Castillo) of Abilene, TX; his grandchildren, Matthew, Michael, Joseph, Cambria, Carter, Jeremiah, Jonah, Jason, Emily, Jacob, Brenna, Kayla, Jaclyn, Mia, JoRay and Jema; his great grandchildren, Addison, Christian, Alexandra, Kody, Evelyn, Xavier, Orijah, Dreylyn, Yazarae, Kurt, Jaedda, Jazlyn, Ayden, Kaden and Kamden; his brother Herbert Cortez (Sandy); his daughter Cheryl Davis; and his granddaughter Rachel Ledbetter (Christopher). He is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Visitation will be held on Monday, July 1st 2024 from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at the Funeral Home Chapel (5750 US-277, Abilene, TX 79606). A rosary will be held on Monday, July 1st 2024 at 7:00 PM at the Elmwood Funeral Home Chapel (5750 US-277, Abilene, TX 79606). A funeral Mass will be held on Tuesday, July 2nd 2024 at 10:00 AM at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church (837 Jeanette St, Abilene, TX 79602).

In lieu of flowers the family ask donations be made to the Sacred Heart Catholic Church building fund.
