Marvin Leland Wilcoxen Obituary

Marvin Leland Wilcoxen, age 69, passed away January 25, 2024, in Abilene, Texas. His sisters were there at his bedside.

Marvin was born on July 5, 1954 to Edwin Eugene Wilcoxen and Nelda Woody at the Rising Star Hospital in Rising Star, Texas. He was a member of the Cisco church of Christ. Marvin had lived in Cisco, Texas since 1971. He drove trucks, worked in construction and on oil rigs. In 1977 he fell from the top of one of the rigs and broke his back in 3 places as well as most of the bones in both feet. Marvin developed heart problems in September of 2023 and had quadruple bypass surgery. Due to other health issues, he remained in the hospital until his death in January of 2024.

Marvin was predeceased by his parents, Edwin E. & Nelda Wilcoxen. Also by his uncles, Franklin Wilcoxen, Melvin Wilcoxen, Everett Wilcoxen, Blanton Childers, Cecil Goble, Roy Edwards, Don Ballinger and Lewis Woody and his aunts, Mamie Ruth Wilcoxen, Claudine Wilcoxen, Lillie Childers, Delilah Goble, Violet Edwards, Laverne Ballinger, Sallie Pearl Woody &; Minnie Lois Woody. He was also predeceased by three brother-in-laws: David Fritz, Kermit Fritz and Don Crawford, and his best friend & brother in spirit, Stanley Honea.

Marvin is survived by his sisters, Rhonda Crawford, and Thaila Robertson & husband Jim. Also by his nephews, David Fritz & wife Mandy and Matt Robertson & wife Alecia. And by his nieces Carrie Wood & husband Eugene and Kandle Torres & husband Manny. Also by his great-nephews, Joshua Fritz, Caleb Fritz and Aiden West. And by his great-nieces, Briana Fritz, Hailey Hollis, Shawnna Medlock, Britney Medlock and Kirsten Medlock. And his great-great-niece, Alora Trevino. And by his 101 year old aunt, Dorothy Woody. He is also survived by numerous cousins including brother in spirit, Richard Ballinger.

Funeral services will be at 2:00 PM Sunday, January 28, 2024, at Kimbrough-Jacobs Funeral Home in Cisco, Texas, with burial afterwards at the Cottonwood Cemetery in Cottonwood, Texas.
