He was predeceased by: his parents, Luther Newton and Sudie Newton (Reynolds); his wife Judy Irene Kiser; and his siblings, Luke, Bill, Johnny Newton, Mary Parmelly, Lola Jones and Frankie Hayes.

He is survived by: his children, Bobby Glyn Newton of Austin, James Donald Newton (Penny) of Clyde, Dana Lynn Schaffer (Tim) of Navarro Mills and Rhonda Blake Fowler (Rick) of Abilene. He is also survived by 12 grandchildren; and 21 great-grandchildren.
